We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our growing team. A key member of our AI & Data Science team, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining our data infrastructure and pipelines, with a strong focus on data security, automation and ethical AI practices. This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to significantly impact the success of our business by driving data-driven decisions and enabling innovative AI/ML model development for advanced risk management
Responsibilities:
Work closely with our cybersecurity risk and compliance domain experts to ensure data acquisition and processing complies with all relevant regulations and ethical guidelines.
Focus on acquiring high-quality data suitable for training AI/ML models while maintaining data privacy and security.
Design and develop robust and scalable data pipelines using a variety of technologies, including AWS, Azure, and cloud-native services.
Develop and maintain data warehouses, data lakes, and other data storage solutions, leveraging opensource solutions where feasible.
Build and optimize ETL/ELT processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
Implement data quality checks and monitoring to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Collaborate with data scientists and machine learning engineers to support model development and deployment.
Contribute to the development and implementation of data governance and security best practices.
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data engineering technologies and best practices.
Mentor junior data engineers and contribute to team growth.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or a similar role.
Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) and cloud-native services (e.g., AWS Glue, EMR, Redshift, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Snowflake).
Expertise in SQL, Python, and other relevant programming languages.
Experience with data warehousing and data lake architectures.
Experience with ETL/ELT tools and technologies.
Experience with data quality and data validation techniques.
Experience working with AI/ML teams and supporting model development.
Strong understanding of data privacy and security regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, NSCS, HIPAA) and ethical considerations in AI/ML.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment, ideally in a highly regulated industry (e.g., healthcare, finance) in the US.
Bonus Points: Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), stream processing technologies (Kafka, Spark Streaming), and graph databases.
