Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a Head Dance Coach for Columbia College Athletics in Columbia, MO. You will help develop and operate the Dance Team, recruit and retain student-athletes, plan practices, supervise travel and competitions, and contribute to fundraising efforts to support the program.

You will work under the Head Spirit Coach to foster a positive student-athlete experience while upholding the mission and values of Columbia College and the Athletics Department.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in collegiate athletics or a comparable athletic environment.
  • Coaching, dance, or choreography experience at the high school, collegiate, or competitive level.
  • Ability to recruit and mentor student athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and retain qualified student-athletes and plan practices.
  • Supervise team travel, competitions, and performances.
  • Contribute to fundraising initiatives and community engagement.
  • Promote a positive student-athlete experience under the Head Spirit Coach.

Head Dance Coach

Department: Athletics

Location: Columbia, MO

Type: Staff, Part-time

Pay: $8,000 stipend

Job Summary:

The Head Dance Coach is responsible for assisting in thedevelopment and operation of the Columbia College Dance Team. Thecoach will recruit and retain qualified student-athletes, plan andconduct practices, supervise team travel and competitions, andcontribute to fundraising efforts. The Head Dance Coach will workunder the direction of the Head Spirit Coach to promote a positivestudent-athlete experience while upholding the mission and valuesof Columbia College and the Athletics Department.

  • Perform job duties in accordance with Columbia College'svision, mission, and values while contributing to the success ofthe Athletics Department and Spirit Program.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of NAIA rules and maintain theintegrity of the athletic program through appropriate applicationof those rules.
  • Report directly to and work collaboratively with the Head Spirit Coach in the planning and administration of the DanceTeam.
  • Experience coordinating events, operations, or customerservice
  • Plan, organize, and conduct team practices and skilldevelopment sessions.
  • Prepare the team for athletic contests, performances,competitions, and campus events.
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions,performances, and team travel.
  • Assist with coordinating travel arrangements in collaborationwith the Head Spirit Coach and Athletics Department.
  • Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship,leadership, academic success, and the NAIA Champions of Charactervalues.
  • Assist with fundraising initiatives and community engagementactivities to support the Dance Team.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents,administrators, faculty, staff, alumni, and the public.
  • Attend Athletics Department and Spirit Program meetings asrequested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Spirit Coach orDirector of Athletics.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience working in collegiate athletics or a comparableathletic environment
  • Previous coaching, dance, or choreography experience at thehigh school, collegiate, or competitive level.
  • Ability to recruit and mentor student athletes.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in collegiate athletics for 3 years ormore
  • Master’s degree
  • Knowledge of NAIA or collegiate athletic operations

The noise level in the work environment is usuallymild.
