The City of Dayton seeks a Custodian to maintain a clean and safe environment for all building users. The position requires at least 2 years of cleaning experience and provides an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy physical work. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or authorized workers and may receive promotional credits for prior military service.

Ensures an attractive, sanitary, and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. Oversees and supports assigned custodians in the performance of their duties.
Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the United States at the time of application.
Open Competitive applicants with military service will receive an additional 20% credit if a passing grade is attained. To obtain credit, a NON-RETURNABLE copy of the DD214 or Certificate of Service (indicating Honorable Discharge) must be uploaded to your application or presented at the time of examination.
Current employment with Dayton Public Schools must be indicated on your application to receive promotional credit. Employment will be verified by Dayton Public Schools’ Human Resources Department. In case of tied scores, ranking will be determined by (1) seniority and (2) a random selection method.
Applicants on the Promotional eligible list will be considered before those on the Open Competitive list. Ties will be broken in favor of: (1) the candidate with military credit and (2) a random selection method.
Examination dates and times are subject to change. Calculators will be provided for the Civil Service examination. Final appointment depends on passing a job-related medical exam, drug screen, police background check, and providing documentation of employment authorization and identity. Applicants are responsible for submitting all necessary experience, training, and documentation as specified in the Exam Announcement for consideration.
