Job summary

QUALIFICATIONS:This position requires knowledge of proper methods, materials and equipment used in custodial work; requirements for the maintenance of school buildings and grounds in a safe, clean and orderly condition; general mechanical principles applicable to the proper servicing of school facilities; safety requirements and precautions used in custodial/maintenance work.

Must possess the skill to plan, assign, instruct and prioritize the work of others; performs custodial maintenance with skill and efficiency; operate all cleaning machines and equipment used by the District custodial staff; operate heating and ventilation equipment; safely use hand and power tools associated with gardening and grounds keeping work; communicate effectively in oral and written form; and understand and follow oral and written instructions independently; performs mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy. This position requires the ability to meet physical requirements for the performance of assigned duties.

Two years of responsible experience in school custodial work is required.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE REQUIRED TO BE TRAINED AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THE KERN HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT'S NEEDS WITH REGARDS TO ASBESTOS AND HAZARDOUS MATERIALS.

MUST POSSESS AND MAINTAIN A VALID CLASS "C" CALIFORNIA DRIVER'S LICENSE. MUST SUBMIT A CA DMV DRIVING RECORD WITH APPLICATION.

A PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT AND A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.

DUTIES OF POSITION:Plan, oversee, coordinate and assume responsibility for the cleaning and maintenance of an assigned high school site. Direct and review the work of a large custodial crew or crews and participate in custodial maintenance and cleaning functions as assigned. Employees in this class receive limited supervision from a Custodial Plant Supervisor within a framework of standard policies and procedures.

STARTING SALARY: $4,265.31 (monthly)

NUMBER OF MONTHS: 12 (to begin as soon as possible)

NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.)
