Job summary

Bowling Green City Schools in Bowling Green, Ohio seeks a dedicated Head Custodian to oversee custodial and maintenance duties for the district's facilities. The role ensures safe, clean, and well-maintained buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; trade training desirable.
• Documented evidence of a clear criminal record.
• Custodial/building maintenance experience.
• Basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing and carpentry skills.
• Ability to read blueprints and diagrams; knowledge of codes and safety rules.
• Familiarity with HVAC controls and boiler operations.
• Willingness to respond to emergencies as needed.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform custodial and maintenance duties to protect the school building, grounds, equipment, and furnishings.
• Communicate maintenance concerns to the director of buildings and grounds.
• Respond to emergencies and ensure safety across facilities.

Salary: $19.82/hour starting wage
Location:Kenwood Elementary

Position Summary

The Head Custodian coordinates and performs custodial and maintenance duties to protect and preserve the school building, grounds, equipment, and furnishings. The Head Custodian keeps the director of buildings and grounds informed about maintenance concerns and emerging issues.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED. Post-secondary training in a trade is desirable.


• Documented evidence of a clear criminal record.


• Custodial and/or building maintenance experience.


• Basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills.


• Ability to interpret and apply blueprint and schematic diagram information.


• Knowledgeable about building codes, accessibility guidelines, safety regulations, and environmental laws.


• Knowledge of microelectronics and other HVAC control systems.


• Holds or is qualified to obtain a low-pressure operators license. Proficient in boiler operations and preventive maintenance procedures.


• Available to respond to building and/or service emergencies.
