Job description

Job Title: Camp Cook

YMCA of Florida's First Coast is seeking a Camp Cook to manage daily food and dining operations at our camp in Keystone Heights, FL 32656. This role involves coordinating activities between the kitchen and dining room, overseeing menu planning, inventory, and procurement of supplies, and ensuring sanitation and maintenance of kitchen facilities. The Camp Cook supervises kitchen staff and performs other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Camp Director.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage daily operations of camp food and dining services, including coordination between kitchen and dining activities.
  2. Oversee menu planning, inventory, ordering, and maintenance of kitchen equipment and facilities.
  3. Supervise scheduling and performance of kitchen assistants.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Equipment used includes manual and mechanical food preparation and cleaning supplies. The role requires a commitment to high service standards, inclusion, effective communication, and self-development.

Qualifications
  1. Management or supervisory experience in a large food service or institutional setting.
  2. SafeServ food safety certification.
  3. Knowledge of food service operations, including inventory, budgeting, and equipment.
  4. Ability to perform physical tasks, be at least 18 years old, and be eligible to work in the U.S.
  5. Willingness to work long hours and respond to environmental hazards and emergencies.
  6. Preferred: 21+ years old with a valid Driver's License.
  7. Professionalism, integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
  8. Ability to work independently with good judgment.
