Head Cook - Food and Nutrition - Full Time

Job Description: The Head Cook supervises the preparation of all food services including patient meals, cafeteria, coffee shop, catering, and vending. Under the guidance of the Culinary Operations Manager, supervises cooks, ensures quality and appropriate quantity of food, and adapts to patient dietary needs. Maintains cost efficiency, sanitation, and demonstrates leadership by example.

Position Summary: Responsible for supervising food preparation, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring safety and sanitation. Must be flexible to dietary changes and prioritize patient needs.

Experience: Minimum of six years in food service, with at least 2 years in mass feeding. Interpersonal skills required; healthcare experience preferred but not mandatory. Familiarity with CBORD and CDM is a plus.

Education, License & Certification:

  • Serve Safe Certification within 12 months of hire
  • High School Diploma required
  • Culinary school or knowledge of therapeutic diets desirable

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and cook food according to policies and recipes
  • Coordinate with the Culinary Operations Manager for daily menu planning
  • Ensure high quality and safety standards, including HACCP principles
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper storage of food and equipment
  • Participate in staff training and safety practices

Other Duties:

  • Attend team meetings, contribute to goal setting, and accept additional responsibilities as needed
