Overall responsibility for the operations of a Milestones Central Kitchen.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- All aspects of the kitchen operation, including making sure all meals are out in a timely manner and that the food is safe, palatable, and appealing.
- Supervises and assists all kitchen staff and volunteers in all licensed food service practices, such as – receiving, storing, preparing, and clean up, to assure adherence to all federal, state, and local health regulations.
- Works closely with Nutrition Area Coordinator on food budget by comparing prices, following recipes, preparing correct amount and monitoring portion control.
- Works with Nutrition Area Coordinator to assure kitchen staff is within labor hours established by Milestones AAA, offering input when hours need to be adjusted.
- May plan and make food purchases, as necessary, with approval.
- Responsible for inventory and maintains accurate record of food used and received.
- Reports problems with recipes and presents solutions.
- Is responsible for seeing that daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork is completed and submitted in a timely manner and reporting any errors immediately.
- Cleans and maintains equipment for sanitation and safety, reporting repair needs promptly.
- Promote all Senior Centers within the service area, working closely with other staff and volunteers in such a way as to create a harmonious inviting atmosphere.
- Assures nutrition education and health promotion activities are scheduled and presented (at sites without managers or coordinators).
- Make home visits as needed.
- Attends monthly employee meetings and other training as assigned.
- Willing to take turns assisting with special meals, if served.
- Other duties as assigned within the function of the Nutrition Program at assigned location.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding and knowledge of food purchasing, preparation, and planning for large quantities.
- Must have basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Applications.
- Strong supervisory skills.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work efficiently.
- Should have a desire to be of service to the elderly and work with others.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of participants.
- Accuracy in record keeping and inventory management.
- Ability to calculate numbers: anticipate menu quantities, adjust standardized recipes, compare pricing, and compute food costs.
- Safe and sanitary work habits.
- Must be able to work well with others.
- Must take pride in your work and have a positive attitude.
- Must have Serve Safe Certification or within 6 months of hire. Certification must be maintained.
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs. on your own and up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
- Must have valid driver’s license and auto insurance, as well as access to reliable transportation and ability to travel as job requires including the transportation and/or delivery of meals.
POSITION STATUS
SCHEDULE: Full- Time: Monday – Thursday, 7:00am – 2:30pm (30 hrs.)
SALARY: Range: $10.87 - $16.07 per hour
