McFarland Middle School in Othello, WA is seeking a Head Cook for 8.0 hours per day to join the Dining Services team. You will prepare and cook meals meeting mandated nutrition standards and help oversee kitchen staff and records.

  • Completion of Head/Asst. Cook Test with a minimum passing score of 80%. (Head/Asst. Cooks as of 10/17/18 are grandfathered in)
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Able to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrates punctuality, reliability, good personal hygiene and a positive team-oriented attitude.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Must obtain food handlers permit within 14 days of employment and maintain current card thereafter.
  • Proficient in basic computer use, including email communications, online training platforms, and other software applications relevant to the position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Physically able to lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds on a daily basis and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties and requirements.
  • Ability to focus (adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus), clear vision at twenty (20) inches or less, and clear vision at twenty (20) feet or more.
  • Must be able to work safely in and around hot surfaces.
  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting and bending.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
