Job summary

Job description

This position involves frequent verbal, written, and email correspondence with current and prospective students, parents, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Developing and implementing a successful recruiting/retention plan.
  2. Devising a game strategy, including scouting opponents.
  3. Planning and supervising practices, contests, off-season training, and strength conditioning programs.
  4. Coordinating team travel.
  5. Managing the program operating budget.
  6. Integrating the Rugby program into the campus and Adrian community.
  7. Adhering to and ensuring compliance with departmental, College, National Intercollegiate Rugby Association, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  8. Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous collegiate Rugby coaching experience.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff, student-athletes, and administration.
  • Ability to perform duties within an office environment, stand for long periods, and lift up to 25 pounds. Must demonstrate techniques to student-athletes.
  • Current holder of Safe Sport Certification.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Preference for candidates with a Master’s Degree and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management or extensive coaching background in recruitment, familiar with Adrian College policies and procedures.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills (oral and written). Self-starter capable of working independently and interpreting, applying, and complying with all NCAA rules and regulations.
