Overview

Purdue University Northwest is pleased to announce the expansion of the athletic program with the addition of Women's Ice Hockey. The Pride will kick off their inaugural Women’s Ice Hockey season in Fall 2026. Women’s Ice Hockey will join Purdue Northwest’s hockey programs which include DI and DII Men’s Ice Hockey in the American Collegiate Hockey Association. PNW is proud to offer the continued growth in the sport of ice hockey within our community. Anticipated start date is July 15, 2025

Duties and Responsibilities of Head Coach, Women's Ice Hockey


This position is a full time, all year around position. It also has the opportunity for a flexible work schedule but does require a strong on campus presence.

Salary range: $50,000 - $60,000

  • Serve as Head Women’s Ice Hockey Coach for the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division 1 team. This position reports to the Director of Athletics.
  • Plan, organize, recruit and develop the Women's Ice Hockey programs.
  • Other responsibilities include but are not limited to academic oversight, fundraising, and coordinating camps and coaching clinics
  • Coach the Women’s Ice Hockey Division I team in game competition in the ACHA. Direct daily practice during the prescribed season
  • Oversee hockey program, responsible for the development of the ACHA Division 1 team
  • Supervise Assistant Coaches
  • Recruit prospective student-athletes
  • Lead team travel
  • Responsible for team equipment checkout and return
  • Construct competition schedule with approval of the Director of Athletics
  • Assist with academic monitoring of student-athletes
  • Assist the Director of Athletics with public relations and fundraising activities
  • Direct summer camps

Education of Head Coach, Women's Ice Hockey
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Education, Fitness or related program is preferred.
Experience of Head Coach, Women's Ice Hockey
  • One year ice hockey coaching experience required at the professional, college or high school level.
Core Competencies of Head Coach, Women's Ice Hockey
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to use personal vehicle to drive on behalf of the University
  • Must meet the Minimum Driver Qualifications as defined by the Use of Vehicles for University Business Policy
  • Must have strong team building/management skills
  • Ability to work across academic and administrative departments in a cooperative manner; strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate collaborative efforts; demonstrated experience in program development, management, and leadership
  • Ability to interact with members of the public and media
  • Ability to supervise regular and temporary staff; understanding of the student-athletes' commitment to academics
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
  • As a part of the job responsibilities associated with this position, knowledge of rules and regulations set forth by the ACHA and conference should be maintained, reviewed and practiced to ensure compliance.
