Job summary

Peoria Unified School District seeks a Head Coach for an athletics/activities program at Sahuaro Ranch Elementary in Glendale, AZ. This stipend position requires NFHS coaching and concussion certificates, plus an Arizona teaching/ coaching certificate or sport-specific qualification.

CPR/First Aid and driving capabilities may be needed. Candidates must work after hours and possibly travel for competitions, while maintaining safety and knowledge of MaxPreps and HUDL platforms.

Qualifications

• Certificate verifying completion of NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching or approved equivalent.
• Certificate verifying completion of NFHS Concussion in Sports – What You Need to Know.
• Arizona Teaching or Coaching Certificate, or sport-specific course certificate (AIA Rule 17.1).
• Current Certification in CPR and First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Establish camaraderie among players through teambuilding, fundraising, and service projects.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, district staff, and officials.
• Adhere to AIA rules and district policies for all activities and events.
• Attend mandatory district and AIA meetings.

Qualifications

• Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Fundamentals of Coaching" course, or approved equivalent (AIA Rule 17.1).
• Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Concussion in Sports – What You Need to Know" course (AIA Rule 17.1).
• An Arizona Teaching Certificate OR an Arizona Coaching Certificate OR a certificate verifying completion sport specific course (AIA Rule 17.1.2)
• Current Certification in CPR and First Aid
• Knowledge of essential skills, techniques, rules and safety concerns for the sport to be coached
• Skill in communicating with all stakeholders
• Knowledge necessary to adhere to rules set out by AIA ( www.aiaonline.org ) and Peoria Unified School District #11
• Attend mandatory school district and AIA meetings

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Must be able to pass a background clearance check.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver's license as driving students to and from competitions may be required.
• May be required to work outside normal working hours
• May be required to travel to perform work functions
• Must utilize online platforms required for specific sports like MaxPreps, HUDL, and others.
• Must establish a sense of comradery among our players through teambuilding, fundraising, service projects, etc.
• Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Must be able to pass a background clearance check.
