Position Summary
Walsh University, a private Catholic university in North Canton, Ohio is seeking qualified individuals for a full time Head STUNT coach. The Head STUNT coach will be responsible for all aspects of this program in collaboration with the VP of Athletics and Athletic Director. The Head Coach will work collaboratively with Undergraduate Admissions to ensure successful recruitment of students. Walsh University is a member of NCAA Division II and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Planning, organizing and managing all phases of the STUNT program including recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes.
- Foster and support the overall growth and maturation of the student-athlete.
- Supports the development of the STUNT program to improve skills specific to competition.
- Manage the STUNT operating and scholarship budget.
- Responsible for design and execution of practice and competition construction of season schedules and supervision of travel to away games.
- Monitors academic progress to ensure eligibility with NCAA and Walsh University requirements.
- Remain compliant with all rules, regulations, and policies set forth by the NCAA, G-MAC, and Walsh University.
- Maintain and create fundraising opportunities for the growth of the program.
- Establish community service initiatives and present a positive image of the University through participation in the community.
- Contributes to the overall success of the Athletics Department by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Failure to comply by NCAA Division II rules will be grounds for discipline and/or termination.
- Other duties as assigned or required.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)
Must understand and support the Mission, Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University, as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae, and possess the following:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
Work Experience: 5 years of competitive cheer or STUNT coaching and recruitment experience.
Skills And Abilities
- Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff, faculty and parents. Positive attitude a must.
- Effective communicate both verbally and in writing
- Effective relational skills to build relationships with students and staff for the success of the program
- A demonstrated ability to collaborate with a wide range of people and a demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems and complete projects
- Microsoft Office skills are required, comfort with navigating software and databases
- Candidates must have the ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are also a requirement
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.
The incumbent will be required to sit, walk, talk, hear, and see with both near and far acuity. Must be able to effectively demonstrate different skills relating to football and be able to demonstrate proper weight training techniques. The head coach should be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The tasks involved with this position will be performed in a variety of environments, including an office environment, a classroom environment, and indoor and outdoor facilities. The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet to extremely noisy.
This role requires a flexible schedule and travel.
