Job summary

Alfred State College, a SUNY college of technology, seeks a Head Coach for NCAA softball. You will recruit student-athletes, develop players academically and athletically, and lead practices and game strategy in alignment with NCAA rules.

You will supervise staff, coordinate scheduling, and engage in fundraising and alumni relations to support the program. The role emphasizes mentor leadership, program development, and community engagement while upholding the college’s mission and policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree required; coaching experience at college, high school, or club level.
• Experience with recruiting, skill instruction, practice/game plan development, staff supervision, and administrative responsibilities.
• NCAA rules compliance knowledge and ability to uphold college policies.

Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive plan to identify, evaluate, and recruit high-quality student-athletes.
• Plan and supervise practices; coach team at contests; collaborate with strength/conditioning and athletic training staff.
• Foster student-athlete development academically and personally; monitor graduation rates and study halls.
• Handle scheduling of practices and games; manage annual reports and recruiting logs for compliance.
• Ensure adherence to NCAA rules in recruiting, eligibility, and program operations.
• Develop and manage a budget with sport supervisor; track travel expenses and equipment.
• Hire, evaluate, and supervise assistant coaches; mentor staff.
• Lead fundraising efforts to support the softball program and department finance.
• Engage in community service and alumni relations; promote the program to external audiences.
• Maintain strong NCAA compliance and department relations; align with college mission.
