Job summary

Akiak School in Alaska is seeking a dedicated Mixed-6 Volleyball Head Coach to lead the high school program. The role reports to the Athletic Director/Principal of Yupiit School District and requires certification, leadership, and strong organizational skills.

The ideal candidate will develop a comprehensive high school program, coordinate with the athletic director and other school activities, and ensure safety and compliance with ASAA rules.

Qualifications

• Must have Alaska Coaching Certification and verification of approved concussion awareness course.
• Experienced coach who will develop a total high school program.
• Must be able to work as a team leader and coordinate program with school activities.
• Should have CPR and first aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule a regular practice program in season.
• Coordinate interscholastic contests with athletic director.
• Maintain and recommend purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
• Maintain forms for physicals, eligibility, team rosters, and records.
• Oversee safety conditions of the facility when students are present.
• Establish performance criteria for participation in inter-scholastic competition.
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanship; oversee penalties for misconduct.
• Attend all practices with the team and oversee end-of-practice cleanup.
• Maintain accurate records of dates and lengths of practices.
• Report injuries to the Site Administrator on District Accident Forms.
• Pass a background check.
• Assist with event hosting logistics (timely information, arrivals, facilities, etc.).
• Maintain program integrity with district policies and ASAA rules.
