Primary Function

Manages all aspects of a particular sports program; abides by rules and regulations of Cobb County School District and Georgia High School Association.

Requirements

• Educational Level: Bachelor Degree required
• Certification/License Required: Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate
• Experience: Prefer successful classroom and/or coaching experience
• Physical Activities: Routine physical activities required to fulfill job responsibilities, including sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, lifting up to 25 pounds, and sensory abilities.
• Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and oral communication, leadership, organization

The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.

Essential Duties

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Teaches techniques and elements of play for sports program.
• Teaches persistence, desire to win, teamwork, and cooperation.
• Enforces standards for discipline and sportsmanship; establishes penalties for breaches.
• Follows CCSD and GHSA rules and regulations for athletics.
• Supervises assistant coaches.
• Ensures care, maintenance, and storage of athletic equipment.
• Ensures student athletes have parental permission, insurance, and physical exams.
• Prioritizes student safety.
• Supervises locker rooms during practices and games.
• Manages transportation arrangements for athletic events.
• Performs other duties as assigned by athletic leadership.
