McCreary County Schools District Wide in Stearns, Kentucky is seeking a Head Coach for elementary archery to lead the after-school program and oversee practice schedules and competitions.

This part-time position reports to the Principal/Athletic Director and requires the ability to coach students, plan practices, manage equipment, ensure safety, and enforce sportsmanship. Starting immediately, compensation and season duration are set by the Board.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching youth in archery or a similar sport.
• Ability to plan regular practice schedules and track progress.
• Commitment to safety and fair play in all activities.

Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants in skills for excellence in the sport.
• Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
• Works with athletics director to schedule intramural and interscholastic contests.
• Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.
• Maintains attendance forms, insurance records, and related paperwork.
• Oversees safety conditions of the facility during practices and events.
• Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanship and sets penalties for breaches.
• Abides by Kentucky High School Athletic Association rules and regulations.
• Ensures all students have equal opportunity to participate.

TITLE: HEAD COACH

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for performing the task listed.

2. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Principal/Athletic Director

JOB GOAL: To help each participating students achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of esteem.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. 1. Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
2. 2. Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
3. 3. Works closely with the athletics director in scheduling intramural and interscholastic contests.
4. 4. Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate.

6. 6. Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times those students are present.
7. 7. Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in his sport.
8. 8. Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establish and oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
9. 9. Abides by the rules and regulations of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.
10. 10. Assures that all students are given an equal opportunity to participate.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Compensation and duration of coaching season to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
