Job summary

Alpine School District seeks a Head Cheer Coach for the upcoming school year. This non-contract, stipend-based position will start on August 21, 2026 and may include teaching a class.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have experience coaching at high school, all-star, or college levels.
  • Ability to develop sport-specific skills and mentor student athletes.
  • Strong communication and teamwork with athletes, staff, and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and run safe, effective practices, caring for athletes' needs.
  • Select and prepare competition team for local and national events.
  • Collaborate with athletes, staff, parents, administration and support staff to align with school vision.
  • Maintain a positive image for the school and community.
  • Engage in school and community events.
  • Motivate student-athletes academically and athletically.
  • Develop sport-specific skills in athletes.
  • Provide individual instruction and guidance constructively.
  • Adhere to NFHS safety guidelines and sport rules.
  • Manage resources and budget per Alpine standards.
  • Coordinate fundraising for team and costs.
  • Oversee trips and equipment management.

Candidates are desired to haveexperience and knowledge in coaching at the high school, all-star, and/or college levels.
The mission of theprogram is to generate school spirit and promote sportsmanship at school athletic and other events. A balanced emphasis is placed on success in competition.
This coaching position doesnot requirea teaching certificate. Head coaches who are eminently qualified to teachclasses maybe paid the hourly teacher ratefor one class period throughout the school year (est. 45-90 days), plus the Alpine District board approved extra-curricular stipend.
A teaching position may be available with this position if your skill set matches positions that are currently hiring at the school. More information will be given at interviews.
A coach must be able to:

  • Coordinate and run safe and effective practices, caring for the needs of the athletes
  • Selects and prepares the competition team for local and national competitions
  • Work, communicate, collaborate effectively with the athletes, staff, parents, administration and support staff insupport of the school's vision for the team
  • Maintain a positive image for the school, community and team
  • Engage in school and community events
  • Support and motivate student athletes to do their best in academic studies.
  • Develop sport-specific skills in athletes
  • Provide individual instruction/guidance for student athletes in a constructive manner
  • Adhere to state and NFHS safety guidelines, rules and regulations of the sport/activity
  • Manage, plan and budget resources in conformity to Alpine School District regulations, policy and procedures (PACE)
  • Manage, plan and provide fundraising opportunities for the team and individual costs associated with volleyball team (PACE)
  • Oversee local and extended/out of state trips and events that are beneficial to the team and the school
  • Maintains team equipment, orders uniforms and gear
  • Participates in the hiring and instructing of assistant coaches
