Job summary

Mid-Pacific Institute is seeking a Head Coach for Canoe Paddling (Boys) at the high school level (JV and Varsity). The role includes developing student-athletes, creating practice schedules, recruiting and mentoring assistant coaches, and collaborating with the Athletic Department to maintain a competitive program.

The position offers a $3,500 stipend paid at season end. Responsibilities span instruction, supervision, communication, leadership and safety, with adherence to school and league

Qualifications

  • Must hold or be willing to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
  • Preferred: Proven experience as a successful and motivating head coach with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop student-athletes through safe drills, skills and lesson planning.
  • Motivate and support student-athletes with positive reinforcement.
  • Provide off-season training opportunities to improve performance.
  • Track attendance and communicate absences to students and parents.
  • Monitor athlete eligibility per regulations.
  • Maintain and secure equipment and report unsafe items.
  • Assist with issuing and returning uniforms and equipment.
  • Monitor academic performance to support student success.
  • Communicate team equipment and supply needs to the Athletic Department.
  • Articulate the program vision and schedule parent meetings.
  • Share practice schedules and updates with athletes promptly.
  • Respond to concerns from parents or athletes.
