Job summary

Woonsocket Education Department is seeking a Head Cheerleading Coach for basketball to lead the athletics program at Woonsocket High School. Immediate start; after-school/evening schedule; oversight of student safety and coaching staff.

Responsibilities include establishing philosophy, training assistants, supervising staff, coordinating game-day operations, and mentoring athletes in academics and sportsmanship.

Qualifications

• Teaching certificate and coaching experience preferred.
• Must monitor student safety at all times.
• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• First aid competency required.

Responsibilities

• Establishes the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by the assistant coaches.
• Trains and informs assistant coaches, encourages professional growth by encouraging clinic and workshop attendance.
• Delegates specific duties, supervises implementation, and at season’s end, analyzes staff effectiveness and evaluates all assistants.
• Performs such other staff duties which may be assigned by the Athletic Director/Principal.
• Is responsible for and must monitor student safety at all times.
• Provides training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport for each athlete who is considered a participant.
• Gives constant attention to a student athlete’s grades and conduct.
• By his/her presence at all practices, games and while traveling, provides assistance, guidance and safeguards for each participant.
• Completes paperwork on all disabling athletic injuries on proper forms and submits to athletic office and school nurse within twenty-four hours.
• Directs student managers and statisticians.
• Determines discipline, delineates procedures concerning due process when enforcement of discipline is necessary and contacts parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible.
• Assists athletes in their college or advanced educational selection.
