Job summary

West Warwick High School is seeking an Assistant Cheerleading Coach to lead fundamentals, organize practices, and enforce team rules. The role requires collaboration with the athletic department and parent communication to support student-athlete development.

The position is after school/evening, with duties including supervision of athletes, equipment management, and participation in coaches’ meetings to align program expectations with RIIL/RIPCOA standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the sport based on experience as a participant or coach.
• Direct reporting to the athletic director in liaison with the principal.
• Must meet RIIL/RIPCOA coaching certification and training requirements.
• Growth and development of student-athletes requires addressing individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Teach fundamentals and skills.
• Assist with organizing and running practice sessions.
• Teach rules and regulations.
• Display and teach good sportsmanship.
• Assist in maintaining, issuing and collecting equipment and supplies.
• Supervise players at all times.
• Attend coaches’ meetings, practices and contests as needed.
• Communicate program expectations to student-athletes and parents.
• Monitor each athlete’s athletic and academic performance.
• Establish and maintain consistent standard and behavior.
