Job Title: Head Cheer Team Coach

The Shenandoah University Spirit Squad is seeking a dedicated Head Cheer Team Coach for a one-year contract stipend position based at our main campus in Winchester, VA. The coach will report to the Director of Spirit Squad.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Director of Spirit Squad, instructional staff, and student leadership to support student success in a positive environment.
• Attend cheer camp, practices, team dinners, and performances.
• Lead efforts to retain Cheer Team members.
• Teach fundamental cheer techniques and choreography to develop skills.
• Organize team-building activities to foster camaraderie.
• Promote a respectful and inclusive team environment.
• Coordinate and lead tryouts in the fall and spring semesters.
• Develop leadership skills among team members.
• Ensure safe practice environments and plan effective training sessions.
• Manage the Cheer Team budget and handle communications via SU Cheer email.
• Oversee fundraising activities for the team.
• Manage equipment needs and communicate resources required for team success.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Bands.
