Job summary

Plano Community Unit School District #88's Plano High School is seeking a Head Cheerleading Coach for the 2026-27 winter season. The successful candidate will plan, manage, and monitor all aspects of the cheer program and develop a well-organized practice schedule that leverages staff at all levels.

  • PEL or certified coach certification required.
  • ASEP certification preferred/required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and monitor all aspects of the Plano High School Cheerleading Program.
  • Develop a well-organized practice schedule that uses staff at all levels.
  • Maximize practice time for individual, team, and program development.
  • Maintain timely paperwork for eligibility, registration, game scores, stats, records, etc.
  • Cooperate with athletic and school administration to provide a quality athletic experience.
  • Supervise locker room, training room, bus trips, and equipment care.
  • Communicate equipment requests and budget needs to administration.
  • Plan and participate in special events and IHSA-related activities.
  • Maintain feeder coach communication and summer/offseason programming.

Job description

Head Cheerleading Coach (Winter) at Plano High School for the 2026-27 school year.

Successful Candidate Will
  • Plan for, manage, and monitor all aspects of the Plano High School Cheerleading Program
  • Develop a well-organized practice schedule that utilizes their staff at all levels
  • Maximize practice time for both individual, team, and program development
  • Develop a well-defined academic plan for all students to increase academic performance
  • Maintain timely management of paperwork requirements for the purposes of eligibility, registration, game scores, stats, records, etc.
  • Cooperate with the athletic and school administration to provide a quality Athletic experience for all athletes
  • Provide and plan for proper supervision of locker room, training room, and bus trips
  • Take an active role in the care of equipment, including issuance, collection, inventory, storage, and maintenance.
  • Communicate with administration about athletic equipment requests, budget needs, unusual events, etc.
  • Follow proper district procedure for the purchase of equipment and operate within the budget
  • Participate and plan for special events such as banquets, and recognize athletes for their accomplishments
  • Attend all-conference meetings and stay in compliance with IHSA requirements
  • Seek out professional development opportunities for themselves and their staff
  • Maintain communication with feeder coaches, college/university programs, parents, athletes, and the transportation department both within and outside the season
  • Provide a summer/offseason program to develop skills and strength

PEL or certified coach, substitute certification and/or ASEP certification required.
