Job summary

San Mateo County Community College District is seeking a Head Cheer Coach within the Athletics Department. This part-time faculty position coaches the Varsity Cheer team and oversees all aspects of the Cheer program, including off-season conditioning and course alignment based on required qualifications.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or higher (or an associate degree with six years of relevant experience) and demonstrated equity-minded practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required or associate degree with six years of professional experience.
• Professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment required when a master's degree is possessed.
• Demonstrated cultural competence and equity-minded practice among diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

• Coach and administer all aspects of the Intercollegiate Cheer Program
• Select, train, and supervise assistant coaching and game operations staff
• Motivate student-athletes to achieve academic success and aid matriculation to four-year programs
• Evaluate, plan, and coordinate programs for program success
• Oversee schedule preparation and budgeting
• Engage in fundraising to supplement budget
• Identify, procure, and inventory supplies and equipment
• Ensure facilities and transportation are safe and well-maintained
• Promote the Cheer Program in the community and recruiting areas
• Comply with Board Policies and Procedures
