Base pay range: $13.00/hr - $13.00/hr

Job Description

The Head Summer Camp Counselor will assist in the development and implementation of programming for the Summer Camp. The incumbent will create positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers.

Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in a day camp setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills a must.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certification – training will be provided.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
Essential Functions
  • Assist in planning, supervising and implementing the summer camp program in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA.
  • Ensure the health and safety of all children; implement emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Supervise assigned grade levels, mentor, evaluate, and support staff.
  • Be flexible and assist in all areas of the Summer Camp programs and activities.
  • Maintain program areas and adhere to safety standards.
  • Maintain communication with parents.
  • Implement the YMCA Safety Around Water Program.
  • Attend staff meetings and training.
  • Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical, disciplinary, and emergency situations.
Physical Demands & Working Environment

Must perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting. Work schedule includes daytime hours and travel to program sites. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

  • PA Criminal Record Check
  • PA Child Abuse History Certification
  • FBI (DHS) Fingerprinting History Clearance
