Job summary

Waverly-Shell Rock Community School District is seeking a Head Boys Tennis Coach in Waverly, IA. The role focuses on building character through sport, enforcing district policies, and leading a high school tennis program with emphasis on student well-being and academics.

The coach will supervise staff, manage logistics, ensure safety, and mentor athletes while coordinating with the Athletic Director and building principal.

Qualifications

• Iowa Coaching Authorization or Coaching Endorsement (BOEE) required.
• CPR/AED, Concussion in Sports, Heat Illness Prevention certifications current.
• Strong knowledge of sport-specific rules, techniques and strategy.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead program-wide philosophy, teaching progression and culture of accountability.
• Mentor assistant coaches and promote professional development (clinics, certifications).
• Coordinate scheduling, transportation and tournament logistics with Athletic Director.
• Ensure safety standards, equipment maintenance, and facility readiness.
• Support student-athletes’ academic progress and post-secondary opportunities.
• Engage with families and community partners to promote program growth.
