Job Description: The Head Boys Tennis Coach is responsible for coaching the varsity tennis team. Responsibilities include developing training plans, preparing practice schedules, teaching fundamental tennis skills, maintaining the positive culture established by the retiring head coach, traveling with student‑athletes to matches, and interacting with coaches, administrators, parents, and the media.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of VHSL rules and regulations.
• Ability to develop and train AA student‑athletes.
• Positive relations with high school student‑athletes, parents, and the community.
• Extensive knowledge of individual and team fundamentals of tennis.
• Ability to organize and prepare practice schedules.
• Ability to foster discipline that emphasizes teamwork and sportsmanship.
• Previous coaching experience at the varsity level required.
• Preference for candidates with or eligible for a Virginia teaching license.

Preferred Experience: Coaching at the varsity level (head or assistant), tennis coaching/playing experience, willingness to work after school and weekends.

Physical Conditions: Duties performed in school gym and recreational areas. Frequent walking, standing, light lifting; daily close contact with student‑athletes; travel to matches; regular contact with coaches, administrators, parents, and media.
