Job summary

Burlington Community School District is seeking a Head Boys Tennis Coach to lead the boys tennis program at Burlington High School. The role involves instructing athletes, developing practice plans, and managing day-to-day team operations.

The coach will schedule practices, supervise athletes on and off the court, and communicate expectations to players and parents while promoting sportsmanship and community pride.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching tennis at high school level or similar setting.
• Strong understanding of tennis techniques, rules, and safety practices.
• Ability to develop organized practice programs and schedules.
• Excellent communication with athletes, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes regarding techniques, rules and safety practices of the sport.
• Develops and organizes practice program.
• Schedule and conduct practices according to agreed upon schedules.
• Supervise athletes from the scheduled beginning of the practice or game until the last athlete is picked up.
• Promote the Burlington Athletics program and uphold high ethical standards.
• Communicate with parents regarding team rules and guidelines.
• Ensure all athletes have completed required documentation and medical exams before the season begins.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Position Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes regarding techniques, rules and safety practices of the sport
• Develops and organizes practice program
• Schedule and conduct practices according to agreed upon schedules.
• Supervise athletes from the scheduled beginning of the practice or game until the last athlete is picked up, knowing where all participants are at all times
• Supervise athletes on buses on trips to other schools
• Promote the entire Burlington Athletics program
• Set an example of the highest ethical and moral conduct including respecting and supporting contest officials
• Foster among the participants and spectators an appreciation of the values of athletics, an attitude of good sportsmanship, and a sense of pride in self, team, school, and community
• Promote a healthy lifestyle to student athletes
• Assist the athletic director to ensure that lists of all players eligible for athletic contests are prepared and maintained under rules of Burlington High School
• Ensure that all athletes have completed and submitted all required documentation, including the medical insurance coverage form and have undergone and passed any required medical examinations before the regular practice season begins
• Communicate with parents in regard to team rules and athletic department guidelines
• Know and understand the student‑athlete handbook
• Adhere to all safety laws and district policies
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
