Job Summary

Performs a wide variety of duties requiring specific knowledge of the hospital's policies and procedures. Meets the hospital's professional, clinical, technical, communication, and documentation requirements and standards, making decisions based on established guidelines. Demonstrates professional courtesy during interactions with management, doctors, healthcare professionals, patients, and the community.

Essential Functions

  2. Provides supervision and operational management of the athletic training program, including hiring and overseeing assistant athletic trainers, interns, or graduate assistants. Maintains medical records per regulations and manages specific sports responsibilities, including attendance at practices and competitions, and injury management.
  3. Acts as "Athletics Health Care Administrator" per NCAA guidelines, representing the Sports Medicine Department in college administration meetings.
  4. Develops effective relationships with athletes, coaching staff, parents, physicians, and healthcare professionals.
  5. Communicates athlete injury status with physicians and coaching staff.
  6. Develops and maintains department guidelines, policies, and procedures based on best practices.
  7. Coordinates with insurance providers and healthcare advocates.
  8. Provides clinical care as assigned, working with the Medical Director and head team physician on injury prevention, evaluation, management, treatment, rehabilitation, education, and counseling.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training/Physical Education or related field, BOC certification, and state certification or eligibility in South Carolina.
  • Experience: Five years in Athletic Training, with two years in a supervisory role.
