Job summary

Ladera Oaks Swim Team in Portola Valley, California is seeking a Head Age Group Coach to lead our USA Swimming program and serve as Head Coach of the PSA Summer Swim Team. We value energetic leadership, relationship-building with athletes and families, and helping swimmers reach their potential.

Working with the Head Coach, you will oversee athlete development, season planning, team operations, and create a fun, competitive environment.

Qualifications

• ASCA certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Current American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and Safety Training for Swim Coaches.
• Minimum of three years of age group coaching experience.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
• A passion for teaching and developing swimmers of all ages and abilities.
• A positive, energetic, and collaborative coaching style.

Responsibilities

• Lead three age group practices on weekdays.
• Develop and implement seasonal training plans with monthly goals.
• Assist Head Coach with season planning, progression, and swimmer evaluations.
• Organize team-building activities and social events.
• Attend USA Swimming meets monthly; travel as needed.
• Build positive relationships with swimmers and families via deck conversations and emails.
• Lead daily summer team practices.
• Supervise and mentor Junior Coaches.
• Plan and manage 2–3 home dual meets each summer.
• Prepare weekly meet lineups.
• Send weekly team communications to families.
• Attend PSA Board meetings every other month.
• Serve as Meet Director for league Championship Meet.
• Help create a fun, organized, positive summer team experience.
