The Driller/Blaster demonstrates an understanding of storage and handling explosives. The incumbent also operates light vehicles for the mine department following all safety regulations and procedures.

Rotation schedule will be 2 weeks on-site with 2 weeks off-site.

Reporting to the General Supervisor, HE Shop.

Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure the health and safety of all team members by promoting and enforcing safe work procedures which includes hazard identification and mitigation.
  2. Oversee and deliver on quality maintenance and repair of light, medium, and heavy-duty equipment to meet availability and reliability targets.
  3. Enable a safe and efficient shop by implementing and promoting shop organization and cleanliness standards and tool management programs.
  4. Manage daily and weekly work schedules to ensure work is complete safely and on schedule, including coordination of break-in work.
  5. Direct the troubleshooting of equipment failure to determine root cause and initiate appropriate remedial action.
  6. Attend and participate in various daily and weekly meetings to communicate status of repairs, expected timelines to return to service, and emerging concerns or delays.
  7. Assist the planning department in the development of the weekly shop schedule.
  8. Provide feedback to the planning, engineering, and leadership teams to highlight emerging equipment health concerns.
  9. Manage and maintain all team members work schedule, vacation allotments, and daily time cards.
  10. Manage key performance indicators such as downtime hours, schedule compliance, and break in percentage.
  11. Facilitate routine crew meetings such as daily lineouts and monthly safety meetings.
  12. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. Must be a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic with a minimum seven (7) years’ experience in a heavy industrial environment.
  2. Must have at least one (1) year of lead-hand Supervisory experience.
  3. Must have a working knowledge of MSHA.
  4. Excellent interpersonal abilities, self-motivated, and have a strong desire to lead and train others.
  5. Highly motivated team player.
  6. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  7. Excellent problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  8. Proven and exemplary leadership skills.
