Job summary

TDS Telecom is looking for a Locator Technician to support HDD operations and underground fiber deployment. You will track drill head location, depth, and alignment while ensuring safety and project compliance in a full-time role with limited travel.

The job offers pay ranging from $22.62 to $41.42 per hour and may include bonuses or relocation assistance. Training covers safety, pole climbing, fiber basics, and CDL certification options.

Qualifications

• 6+ months experience in customer service, electrical or utility construction, or with technical certification.
• Must follow TDS attendance guidelines to meet business needs.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and be eligible for DOT requirements.
• Ability to obtain a Class A CDL; in-house CDL training available.
• Physical tasks include climbing poles, ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain HDD locating equipment to track drill path and depth.
• Communicate with the drill operator to guide bore placement and avoid utilities.
• Install, maintain, test, and repair buried and aerial fiber lines.
• Operate trenching and excavation equipment as needed.
• Set pedestals, vaults, and outside plant infrastructure.
• Climb poles and structures; operate bucket trucks when required.
• Support fiber splicing and repair activities.
• Restore job sites and maintain accurate project labels.
