Job summary

LK Jordan is seeking an experienced Machinist to perform precision machining of pump components, including rings, bushings, sleeves, and shafts, maintaining .001 T.I.R. tolerances on finished parts.

You will review samples and blueprints, plan sequences, set up and operate lathes and grinders, measure with calipers, and inspect parts to ensure dimensional accuracy. The role is on-site in Houston with 8-hour shifts and regular overtime; physical shop work with exposure to heat and noise.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Vocational training or apprenticeship preferred.
• Proven machining experience with precision tolerances.

Responsibilities:

• Review samples, blueprints, drawings, and instructions to determine machining specifications.
• Plan machining sequences to complete jobs accurately and efficiently.
• Measure and mark materials for cutting and shaping.
• Select appropriate machines, tooling, and settings; position and load materials.
• Set up, operate, and program equipment as applicable, adjusting batch sizes, speeds, and feeds.
• Monitor machine operation, maintain proper operating temperatures, and identify issues.
• Inspect finished components to verify dimensions, tolerances, and quality.
• Identify and separate defective parts and maintain production and inspection records.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs.

Qualifications:

• Proven machining experience.
• Experience operating manual, semi-automated, or automated equipment, including lathes and grinders.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools, including calipers.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Knowledge of metal properties and other machining materials.
• Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and meet the physical demands of shop work.
• High school diploma or GED required; vocational training or an apprenticeship is a plus.

Schedule & Work Environment:

• 8-hour shifts with regular overtime.
• Shop environment without air conditioning or heating, with possible exposure to dirt, heat, and noise.
• No travel required.
