Purpose
Provides technical skills in the operation and support of environmental health and safety programs in compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and institutional policies. Responsible for monitoring policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment. Assists faculty and staff regarding the interpretation and implementation of health and safety regulations, policies and procedures
Responsibilities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Science, Natural Science, Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences or Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene or related field.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of experience in environmental health and safety or a related field. Experience with environmental programs such as hazardous waste management, SPCC, Stormwater, PST, or wastewater. Currently certified Hazardous Waste Operator or attended Hazardous Materials training. Has attended training to be a Department of Transportation certified shipper for Hazardous Materials.
Driving Required
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
Salary Range
$50,000+ depending on qualifications
