Job summary

Clean Harbors is seeking a Hazmat Material Handler to perform labpack-related tasks at client sites, labs, and plants. This entry-level role includes training and guidance to ensure safe handling of hazardous waste and materials while supporting daily operations.

The position offers hands-on experience with waste collection, packaging, labeling, and compliance, with pathways for advancement as you gain experience in hazardous materials management across facilities in the United States.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required; CDL Class B preferred.
  • Valid driver's license; willingness to obtain CDL Class B.
  • Background check, drug test, and physical required.
  • BS/BA in Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Science is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Make waste pickups at labs as needed.
  • Package and label waste products and other materials.
  • Identify unknown chemicals when encountered.
  • Inspect staging, accumulating, and storage areas for housekeeping and compliance.
  • Collect, segregate, and package waste chemicals for disposal.
  • Oversee quality control of waste materials stored and shipped.
  • Complete required manifests and tracking paperwork.
  • Use CHOICE software to manage waste programs.

The Opportunity

The

Hazmat Material Handler works both indoors and outdoors at plants, labs, and customer sites; and is responsible for assisting with daily labpacks within customer facilities, household hazardous waste (HHW) collections and lab moves.

Responsibilities

InSite Chemists perform a wide range of tasks, including:

  • Making waste pickups at labs as needed
  • Packaging and labeling waste products and other materials
  • Identifying unknown chemicals when they are encountered
  • Performing inspections of staging, accumulating, and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance
  • Collect, segregate, and properly package waste chemicals for efficient and compliant disposal
  • Overall quality control ofwastematerials being stored and shipped
  • Completing required manifests and tracking paperwork
  • Utilizing CHOICE waste management software to efficiently and accurately manage waste programs.

Qualifications
What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

  • Hold or willing to obtain a CDL Class B
  • Prior chemical handling experience or chemistry knowledge preferred
