Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a HAZMAT Technician to join the Emergency Response Team, delivering rapid technical expertise during hazardous materials activations.

You will support 24/7 responses and uphold safety and quality standards, including operating specialized equipment. The role requires exceptional planning, communication, and time-management skills, with duties spanning response, training, equipment readiness, and on-site safety leadership.

Qualifications

• Hazmat response experience and safety-focused mindset.
• Willingness to work on-call including weekends/holidays.
• Ability to organize and coordinate resources for emergency response.
• Advanced training in hazmat topics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Respond to spills and emergency calls 24/7 across multiple environments.
• Perform chemical transloading between containment units as needed.
• Conduct chemical neutralization and decontamination when required.
• Organize resources for response and pre-incident planning, including personnel and equipment.
• Maintain and service emergency response equipment and client equipment.
