Job summary

Linde Gas & Equipment Inc. in North Haven, CT is hiring a Delivery Driver responsible for loading, delivering and unloading gas cylinders, while maintaining safety, accuracy and compliance with DOT/Hazmat regulations.

You will perform pre/post-trip inspections, document shipments, and assist in warehouse tasks. CDL Class B with Hazmat endorsement and clean driving record are required; forklift experience beneficial.

Qualifications

• High School Degree/G.E.D. is required.
• 2 years driving experience or completion of truck driver training with equipment similar to Linde's.
• No preventable accidents, license suspensions or other moving violations in past 2 years.
• No alcohol-related convictions in last 10 years.
• Current medical examiner's certificate or ability to pass a DOT physical.
• Valid class B CDL is required.
• Hazmat on CDL or ability to obtain Hazmat within 60 days of hire.
• 2+ years experience in plant/manufacturing environment preferred.
• Must read and write in English.
• You must be 21 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high standard of Customer Service while delivering, unloading products and moving to customer use points; reload returned cylinders.
• Driving represents ~30% of the day; rest of the day includes delivery, cylinder handling, shipping orders, paperwork, customer contact, vehicle inspections.
• Accurately count and record quantities and styles of product delivered and picked up.
• Complete Hazardous Material shipping papers per DOT/TC regulations.
• Placard vehicle per hazardous material regulations and Linde standards.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Identify need for vehicle repairs and ensure timely maintenance.
• Process medical and industrial gas cylinders following plant guidelines.
• Perform visual, physical and odor tests on cylinders before filling; determine retesting/repair needs.
• Check cylinder quantities, styles, and products; fill as needed.
• Load and unload product from weekly shuttle truck.
• Operate and maintain cylinder scales and related equipment.
• Prepare warehouse transfer orders and accompanying paperwork; enter quantities and products into the computer to justify stock inventory.
• Maintain quality control documentation as per procedures.
• Operate forklift and other plant vehicles.
