Job summary

Clean Harbors in Independence, MO seeks a Technical Services Project Manager to drive TS revenues and profitability across Clean Pack, drum and bulk lines. You will scope out projects, assess resources, draft safety plans, and manage a team to deliver safely, on budget, and beyond client expectations.

The role requires hands-on leadership of chemists/technicians, strong safety discipline, and ability to secure approvals and manage costs.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in hazardous waste or related field.
  • 40 Hours OSHA and RCRA Training completed.
  • Ability to lead chemists/technicians and manage safety.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure health and safety is the #1 goal by following policies and acting safely at all times.
  • Prepare quotes or bids ensuring costs are recognized and margins met.
  • Prepare internal/external profiles to manage scope and secure approvals.
  • Meet with customers to define scope, costs, and potential issues.
  • Schedule work with coordinators to ensure manpower and equipment availability.
  • Lead the team to execute work efficiently and safely.
  • Follow up to ensure completion, invoicing, and collections.

Job description

Clean Harbors in Independence, MO is seeking a Technical Services Project Manager will assist in growing the TS revenues and profitability in the business lines of Clean Pack, drum and bulk. The TS Project Manager will scope out, inventory, profile, secure approvals, draft and review safety plans, assess labor and equipment resources for opportunities that need more complex management and technical customer interaction. As required, the TS Project Manager will manage the team responsible for executing a project to assure it's completed safely, on budget and exceeds the customer's expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all time.
  • Prepare quotes or bids assure all costs are recognized and the quoted dollars meet required margins.
  • Prepare profiles both internal and external (third party) to manage the materials found in the scope of work. Secure appropriate approvals
  • Meets with customers to participate in job walks to understand the scope of work and any issues that may impact costs and execution.
  • Works with the Coordinators to schedule the work and assure availability of manpower and equipment resources.
  • Lead the team that executes the involved work and assure executed efficiently and safely
  • Follow up on jobs with operational team and customer to assure work completed satisfactorily, issues resolved, invoiced, and monies collected.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of experience
  • High School + specialized training or 1 year of college required.
  • Bachelor's Degree with science major with chemistry classes preferred.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Past experience in Haz Waste management.
  • 40 Hours OSHA and RCRA Training required.
  • Class B CDL w/Haz Waste Endorsement and Hi Haz Training preferred.
  • Leadership Skills to manage a team of chemists/technicians; computer skills; communication skills; confidence in dealing with new people and situations; Knowledge of the WIN System; Chemical Compatibilities; negotiating skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • DOT knowledge and dispatching/ logistics experience

  • Waste Disposal - Comprehensive disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste at Company-owned facilities
  • Recycling Services - Extensive recycling, reuse and reclamation options for materials such as solvents, chemicals, oil and electrical equipment
  • Chemical Packing - Safe, efficient handling and disposal of the widest range of chemicals, including reactives and compressed gases
  • Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Services - HHW collection programs of all types and sizes, facilitated by Clean Harbors expert personnel
