Job summary

Argonne National Laboratory seeks a Waste Management professional to assist with sorting, packaging, and universal waste management under supervision. The role involves compliance with DOE, EPA, and Laboratory policies, and learning the Waste Management Upgrade system for requisition entry to support RCRA storage requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering or equivalent experience.
• Two to five years of experience in waste management and/or transportation.
• Proven ability to manage and ship hazardous waste in compliance with DOE/regulatory standards.
• Citizenship proof required due to federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Learn and proficiently use the WMS-U application for requisition entry.
• Provide technical support for waste characterization and compliance.
• Develop waste sampling plans and interpretations for DOT and hazardous classifications.
• Train and understand regulations (CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, DOT, EPA, DOE orders).
• Ensure waste packages meet TSDF acceptance criteria and waste profiles.
• Assist with shipments to TSDFs and write work instruction documents.
