Job summary

This permanent, full-time Hazardous Substances Engineer position is based at the Cal Center Regional Office in Sacramento, CA, and offers hybrid telework. The role focuses on protecting health and the environment by managing munitions-related projects and ensuring compliance with approved remedial plans.

You will review and prepare technical engineering reports, cost estimates, schedules, and long-term monitoring plans, coordinating with multiple projects to meet timelines and budgets.

Qualifications

Job Description And Duties

Are you looking for a challenging project management position that involves protecting human health and the environment? We are looking for a highly motivated and adaptable individual to join our team to work on primarily munitions projects. Come join us today!

• Review and/or prepare technical engineering reports and other documents including, but not limited to, Phase I reports, Preliminary Endangerment Assessments, site characterization workplans and reports, sampling and analysis plans, human health and ecological risk assessments, pilot and treatability studies, feasibility studies, remedy selection documents, design, implementation, completion reports, operation and maintenance plans, five‑year reviews and long‑term monitoring reports for compliance with approved plans
• Evaluate site characterization data to support engineering remedial design and implementation
• Review or prepare cost estimates to ensure adequate financial assurance mechanisms are in place for the selected remedy and long‑term operation and maintenance
• Plan and manage a workload consisting of multiple projects to ensure all assignments are completed on time and within budget
• Prepare and maintain accurate project schedules to facilitate allocation of resources
• Prepare Responsible Party estimates for oversight costs for each assigned project and follow up with the Responsible Parties to ensure payment of invoices for billed activities
