Job summary

The State of Connecticut Department of Correction is hiring for a full-time Correctional Plumber and Steamfitter across multiple CT facilities. You will repair and maintain potable water, hot water, steam distribution, drains, and related equipment, often supervising inmates in a correctional setting.

Requirements include at least three years of plumber/steamfitter experience; licensure not required. A 14-week hazardous-duty training at the Maloney Center in Cheshire, CT is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience as a plumber and/or steamfitter.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics and determine work aids.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing and steamfitting materials, tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lay out and schedule maintenance and repairs.
• Instruct inmates in measuring, cutting, threading and installing pipes and fixtures.
• Maintain piping systems for steam, gas, water, and air; troubleshoot and repair issues.
