Job summary

Mercor is seeking a Hazardous Device Specialist / Public Safety Professional for a remote, contract role at $65–$75/hour. The position focuses on crafting challenging prompts about energetic materials, evaluating model responses, and providing technical reasoning for correct answers.

You will work independently to meet deadlines while ensuring safe handling of dangerous queries and contributing to AI model performance improvements.

Qualifications

• Certified bomb technician with verified credentials.
• Military EOD experience with civilian public-safety exposure.
• Bomb squad commander or training officer experience.
• Experience in post-blast investigation and device reconstruction.
• CBRNE technical response experience.

• Write challenging single-turn prompts in the domain of energetic materials and propulsion. Label them as benign, dual-use, or adversarial.
• Evaluate responses against a defined policy standard. Judge whether each response was handled correctly.
• Write reference answers with technical reasoning for correct responses.
• Ensure models refuse genuinely dangerous questions while answering legitimate ones fully.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines while improving AI model performance.
