Job summary

Langan, a leading engineering and environmental services firm, seeks a Hazardous Building Materials Professional for its New Haven, CT office. The role focuses on performing and leading surveys and abatement monitoring for asbestos, lead-based paint, PCBs, and related IAQ tasks.

The candidate will coordinate inspections, develop scopes, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with clients, laboratories, and project teams to grow a rapidly expanding practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Associates degree in Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Science.
• 5+ years in hazardous building materials survey and abatement/remediation monitoring (asbestos, lead-based paint, PCB, IAQ).
• Knowledge of CT/ Federal regulations (MA, NY, RI a plus) related to asbestos, lead, PCB.
• Licenses: CT DPH Asbestos Inspector/Project Monitor; CT DPH Lead Inspector; other state licenses are a plus.
• Ability to read specs, drawings, and survey reports.
• Experience with surveys and monitoring of asbestos, lead-based paint, PCBs and other hazardous materials.
• Proposal writing, abatement estimates, reports, and specifications.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver’s license; flexibility for off-hours work.
• Ability to multi-task and work solo or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate/execute hazardous/regulated building material inspections and abatement project monitoring.
• Coordinate/execute IAQ and PCB assessments.
• Develop scopes of work and proposals for inspections, monitoring, IAQ assignments.
• Attend client/construction meetings as needed.
• Work overtime or outside normal hours as needed.
• Coordinate with labs, subcontractors, and project teams.
• Prepare inspection/monitoring/IAQ reports.
• Train and mentor junior HBM staff.
• Report to HBM Practice Lead in New England.
