Specific Job Duties And Tasks
- Advise and Develop Student Leaders-Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise student leaders for Hawkeye Service Breaks, Student United Way, and other service initiatives.
- Provide Student Engagement Advising-Guide students in connecting service and involvement experiences to their personal, academic, leadership, and career development goals.
- Facilitate Leadership and Service Education-Design and deliver training programs focused on leadership, service-learning, active citizenship, reflection, teamwork, and community engagement.
- Lead Service-Based Programs and Events-Plan, implement, and evaluate Hawkeye Service Breaks, National Days of Service, volunteer recognition programs, and other campus-wide service initiatives.
- Manage Community Partnerships-Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations to create meaningful volunteer and service opportunities for students.
- Oversee Program Operations and Risk Management-Establish and implement policies, procedures, travel protocols, and risk management practices to support safe and effective service experiences.
- Ensure Policy and Regulatory Compliance-Maintain compliance with university, state, and federal requirements related to student travel, volunteer engagement, and organizational operations.
- Assess Program Effectiveness and Student Learning-Develop assessment strategies, collect and analyze data, and evaluate student learning, leadership development, and community impact outcomes.
- Advise Service-Oriented Student Organizations-Serve as the primary advisor for Student United Way and support service-focused student organizations through leadership coaching, organizational development, and volunteer recruitment.
- Coordinate Outreach and Communications-Develop promotion and communication strategies that increase student participation and awareness of service and civic engagement opportunities.
- Manage Program Budgets and Resources-Administer budgets, monitor expenditures, coordinate financial processes, and ensure responsible stewardship of university and student fee resources.
- Collaborate with Campus and Community Stakeholders-Partner with campus departments, student leaders, and community organizations to advance service-learning, civic engagement, and student development goals.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the position or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Some (6mo-1yr) experience working in a higher education setting with campus programming and student activities.
- Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining a welcoming and respectful environment.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with standard office computer applications.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
Desired Skills
- Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Student Development, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Experience coordinating service and volunteer programs such as alternative breaks or days of service.
- Extensive experience in event management processes and activities; ability to plan, organize and execute large student life or other medium to large-scale events and to coordinate resources before, during and after an event.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating co-curricular leadership programs.
- Basic knowledge of budgeting and expense management processes.
- Knowledge of and commitment to university policies, procedures and regulations.
