Job summary

SSFM is seeking a skilled Construction Manager to support transportation and infrastructure projects on Hawaiʻi Island. You will act as the primary field representative between SSFM, HDOT, and contractors, ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, with strong communication and leadership skills to coordinate diverse teams and manage complex contracts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage schedules, costs, and contractor documentation.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day construction management activities in accordance with contract documents and HDOT requirements.
• Serve as on-site SSFM representative with HDOT, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Monitor schedule, cost, progress, and quality; identify and mitigate delays or claims.
• Lead progress meetings and coordinate communications among parties.
• Review submittals, RFIs, schedules, payment applications, and change requests.
• Administer and negotiate change orders and contract modifications.
• Direct field staff and inspectors; ensure safety and compliance with plans and standards.
• Maintain logs, documentation, and progress reports; conduct field observations and closeout activities.
