Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operations Manager - Hauling in the Houston area to lead collections, delivery and pickup for commercial, industrial and residential customers. You will oversee a dispersed team of Supervisors, Dispatchers, Clerks, Drivers and Helpers, driving a local market strategy and ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations.

Responsibilities include hiring and coaching staff, managing productivity and labor costs, coordinating with customers and regulatory bodies,

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience or participation in Republic Services’ management trainee program.
• Supervisory experience across multiple roles (supervisors, dispatchers, clerks, drivers) in a dispersed operation.

Responsibilities

• Manages a staff, including hiring, training, coaching, performance management; develop supervisory goals and objectives; and effective resolution of safety issues and claims.
• Implement and execute plans to complement the business unit’s strategic and operating plan; champion tactical initiatives to maximize customer experience, growth and durability, while optimizing profitability.
• Ensure maximum productivity and route management systems for commercial, roll-off and residential routes; establish productivity goals; manage labor hours and disposal expenses.
• Interact with customers and government employees to resolve customer service concerns; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Oversee effective safety and accident prevention programs; maintain safe and productive work environment; implement loss control and safety program.
• Lead operations to ensure compliance with standards including environmental, operating, regulatory, safety, accounting and ethics.
• Approve expenses and manage budget for the operations department including PO approvals and vendor pricing.
• Develop a best-in-class team and workplace culture; drive performance and talent development; share best practices.
• Build and maintain relations with government, community and environmental groups.
