Job summary

Texas First Rentals in Lewisville, TX is seeking a professional CDL-A delivery driver responsible for safe transport of construction equipment to customer job sites and branch stores. You will load, secure, and unload equipment, perform pre/post trip inspections, and maintain accurate DOT logs.

Responsibilities include operating trucks, chaining/strapping, reporting defects, and assisting other departments as needed. Valid Class A CDL and DOT medical card required.

Qualifications

• Three years driving experience preferred with verifiable over‑the‑road experience operating combination commercial vehicles.
• High school or equivalent diploma preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL with DOT Medical Card.
• Experience hauling construction equipment and operating safely in traffic.

Responsibilities

• Delivery and pick‑up of equipment for customers in a safe, timely, efficient, and courteous manner.
• Secure equipment by chaining, strapping, and blocking in accordance with procedures.
• Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections; check for defects and safe operating condition.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, violations, or damage to vehicles.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks (oil, fuel, radiator fluid, minor repairs).
• Complete DOT daily log and trip sheets accurately.
• Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment at job sites and make minor repairs.
• Demonstrate proper and safe equipment usage to customers at delivery.
• Obtain signatures on rental contracts, pick‑ups, and exchange forms.
• Assist other departments when required; perform other duties as assigned.

This position is responsible for the safe transportation of industrial and commercial equipment to and from various customer job locations and branch stores. The role involves local or long‑distance hauling of equipment and supplies, as well as loading, unloading, and securing the equipment.

Essential Functions

• Delivery and pick‑up of equipment for customers in a safe, timely, efficient, and courteous manner
• Secure construction equipment and other equipment by chaining, strapping, and blocking in strict accordance with established procedures
• Perform pre‑ and post‑vehicle inspection; inspect truck for defects and safe operating condition before, during, and after delivery trips
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks (e.g., adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid, or performing minor repairs)
• Complete DOT required driver daily log and trip sheets accurately and without misrepresentation
• Perform basic troubleshooting of malfunctioning equipment at job site and make minor repairs
• Demonstrate proper and safe equipment usage to customer at the point of delivery
• Obtain required signatures on rental contracts, pick‑up, and exchange forms
• Assist other departments whenever required in an efficient manner
• Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Basic knowledge of construction equipment and safe driving procedures
• Knowledge and understanding of Motor Carrier Safety Regulations/DOT guidelines
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

Requirements

• Three years’ driving experience preferred, with verifiable over‑the‑road experience operating combination commercial vehicles
• High school or equivalent diploma preferred
• Valid driver’s license with Class A CDL certification, DOT Physical Examination (Medical card)
• Knowledge of and/or previous experience driving delivery trucks, towing tandem axle utility trailers, and towable construction equipment, and operating safely within high‑traffic or congested city zones and in small areas

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 100% of the time
• Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower‑back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue

• Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climb up and down ladders
• Be able to safely maneuver and work underneath equipment
• Routinely react to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work

Work Environment

• Requires working in a closed vehicle or equipment
• Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
• Requires working outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions including extreme conditions such as heavy rain, wind, or excessive temperatures
• Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable
• Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high‑pressure water, and high‑speed rotating equipment
• Significant time spent in confined spaces and/or high places
