Job summary

Aviagen is seeking candidates for positions on our Hatchery Service Team in a fast-paced poultry environment. You will assist with chick and egg handling, quality checks, and transport packaging while upholding safety and biosecurity standards.

Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, following hygiene protocols, and reporting incidents. The role requires reliability, teamwork, and basic Excel/Word skills. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle moderate to physical work; pushing and pulling trolleys up to 50 lbs.
• Stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work under pressure.
• Team player with good communication skills.
• Knowledge of Excel and Word is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Check & grade chicks to the quality standard; self-motivated and able to perform duties unsupervised.
• Able to work under stress, make decisions, take initiative and seek continuous improvement.
• Build boxes for chick transport and label orders; handle eggs and equipment safely.
• Ensure equipment is in good working order and stock levels are sufficient.
• Maintain chick and egg welfare during handling and treatments.
• Follow cleaning, hygiene, and PPE protocols at all times.
• Follow safe working practices and report accidents or near misses.
• Maintain high biosecurity standards at all times.

Job Description

• Check & Grade Chicks to the Quality Standard Should be self-motivated able to perform duties unsupervised and possess a positive attitude.
• Able to perform under stress and have good decision-making skills, take initiative, and strive for continuous improvement.
• Build Boxes for chick transport and complete labels to distinguish orders Manual Handling when transferring eggs to other trolleys and other parts of the hatchery.
• Ensure all equipment being used is in good working order and sufficient stocks of consumable material are available to achieve requirements.
• Be confident that standards of chick & egg welfare are met at all times in the handling of chicks/eggs during the various treatments.
• Ensure you follow appropriate cleaning ad hygiene standards according to agreed company protocols.
• Ensure you follow safe working practices and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
• Ensure all accident and near miss reporting procedures are followed.
• Ensure high standards of biosecurity are maintained at all times.

Job Qualifications
