Job summary

George’s is seeking a Hatchery Manager to lead hatchery operations, ensure egg production targets, and drive profitable performance. You will plan, develop, and implement policies for hatchery as well as coordinating with breeders and contract services to meet weekly schedules.

Ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science or related field with 4+ years in hatchery roles and at least 3 years of supervisory experience, plus strong communication and MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science, Agricultural Science, Management or related field AND 4+ years hatchery experience or combination of hatchery and relative poultry industry experience
• 3 years of supervisor experience within similar environment
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word

Responsibilities

• Manage hatchery activities including egg pick-up, incubation, hatching, grading, vaccination, and shipping of chicks
• Oversee maintenance of facility and equipment
• Manage chick care, packing and transfer activities
• Oversee quality assurance/quality control program
• Coordinate with breeder manager to project egg needs
• Coordinate with contract service providers where applicable
• Manage weekly hatch schedules for processing plant
• Monitor and address equipment repairs and maintenance issues
• Maintain hatchery sanitation
• Establish and manage safety policies and procedures
• Maintain knowledge of industry trends and hatchery equipment and operations
• Responsible for hatchery budget
