Job summary

Prestage Farms is seeking a Maintenance Technician to work independently and with hatchery personnel to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance on production and facilities equipment. You will troubleshoot issues, repair failures and help ensure maximum equipment efficiency.

This position reports to the Hatchery Manager, requires lifting and ladder work, and candidate must be available for off-hour emergencies. HVAC experience is preferred and post-secondary training is an asset.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics and electrical repair.
• HVAC experience preferred.
• Post-secondary education or technical trade certificate is an asset.
• Must have a valid NC driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain machinery and equipment such as incubators, conveyors, electrical components, compressors, HVAC systems, pumps.
• Repair or replace control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, push buttons, contactors, motors.
• Perform work order repairs, inspections, adjustments, and operate/maintain the wastewater sprayfield.
• Set up and operate welders, drill press, grinder, hand tools and other metal working equipment.
• Fabrication and modification of new and existing equipment.
• Participate in plant safety, health and environmental programs and animal welfare training.
• Establish and maintain relationships with department heads and other divisions.
• Respond to off-hour shift emergencies on a rotating weekend call list.
